How GloveCode works

GloveCode decodes baseball glove model codes and suggests look-alike patterns across brands.

Where the data comes from

Each model page links to the exact page its specs came from, with the date we retrieved it. Blank fields mean the brand doesn't publish that value. We never guess. Sources sometimes disagree: a retailer listed the Wilson A2000 1786 as an I-Web, while Wilson's own page says H Web. GloveCode always goes with the brand's own page.

How ratings are calculated

We collect the star rating and review count shown on public product pages: Mizuno's product data, Rawlings' review summary, and Baseball Monkey's category listings. Each is stored with its URL and retrieval date. Rawlings pages also carry a review block that can pool reviews across a whole product family, so we use it only when it matches the stars the page shows for that glove. If a site has several pages for the same model (colorways), we keep only the page with the most reviews, so reviews aren't double counted. Overall = sum(rating × reviews) / sum(reviews), shown as "4.6 / 5 from 1,240 reviews across 3 sites". Wilson loads its reviews by script, and JustGloves, Dick's and Amazon block automated reading, so they're not included. A glove with no public rating stays unrated. We never estimate one.

How "similar" is calculated

A match is a glove from another brand with the same or an overlapping position, a size within 0.25″ (0.5″ for catcher's mitts), and the same web style where both brands publish one. These are suggestions based on specs, not official equivalents.
